The rapidly spreading artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT has disrupted the technology world.
Elon Musk has sued OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman.
Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and social media platform X, has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman, accusing them of abandoning the mission to develop artificial intelligence for humanity.
Musk stated that initially, Altman, along with the other co-founder of OpenAI, Greg Brockman, approached him with plans to establish an open-source and non-profit company. Musk’s lawyers, filing the lawsuit in San Francisco, stated that the company’s profit-oriented moves were contrary to the agreement they had made previously.
It was also noted that OpenAI’s agreement with Microsoft, transforming it into a profit-oriented company, was a “betrayal of the artificial intelligence mission.”
Musk’s lawyers also stated that OpenAI had kept the design of the artificial intelligence chatbot GPT-4 “completely secret.”
Elon Musk was involved in the founding of OpenAI in 2015 but left his position in the company in 2018. It is noted that Musk contributed over $44 million to the company over the years.
Sam Altman was also ousted by the board of directors last year due to his stance on preserving the mission of developing artificial intelligence for humanity. Altman returned to his position a few days later.
OpenAI’s artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT, which was released in 2022, quickly became the fastest-growing software application in the world. Accelerating competition among technology giants, the artificial intelligence robot is now being used by many companies for various tasks.
